I have come to believe that some of the worst homophobes are homosexuals trying desperately to stay in the closet. That's from a piece explaining my father was part Native American and I believe he cracked racist jokes to signal to White people "I'm WHITE. 100 percent WHITE. (Please don't lynch me.)." I was born in 1965 when my father was forty years old. My understanding is the last recorded lynchings occurred the year I turned three. I believe that principle generalizes.
